Tooth decay is a common problem around the world; it is not without good reason that we are told to brush and floss regularly. Bacteria can begin to accumulate on the teeth, and these bacteria will produce a waste product that is corrosive, causing damage to the teeth over time. Teeth can also be damaged physically such as by biting on hard objects or through grinding down over time. This damage can lead to badly misshapen and damaged teeth that can also have cavities that can harbor more bacteria, possibly leading to infections. However, you can visit us, and we will have the perfect solution to the problem.

Inlays

Inlays are similar to fillings in that they help to fill any cavities that may be present, although they are sturdier than fillings are. They help to fill gaps that might otherwise allow food and sugars to become trapped which will then provide a haven for bacteria. This helps prevent infections further down the line. Inlays also help to provide the right surface on your teeth to help with chewing and biting. Visit our team for inlays, and we can let you know all about them and how they can benefit you.

Onlays

Similar to inlays, onlays help to rebuild parts of the teeth that have been damaged somehow. Rather than filling a gap in the canter of the teeth, though, onlays help to rebuild the surface of teeth that have been damaged. This helps provide the right shape and surface to allow for effective chewing and biting. They are similar to crowns, although a crown will cover the entire surface of the tooth that’s used for biting, as opposed to rebuilding a part of the surface.

What They Are Made From?

Inlays and onlays are often made from ceramics, porcelains and other similar materials. This helps to keep them looking as natural as possible, maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile. Some people, though, might choose other materials such as silver or gold for aesthetics. This will, of course, cost you more while it is also a matter of personal preference. Regardless of which materials you prefer, our team can fit inlays and onlays that will serve you well for many years to come.

Whether you need inlays, onlays, fillings, crowns or any other procedure will depend on some factors. Visit us and our team of experienced dental experts will be able to advise you on what is best for you. We can explain all procedures, pros, cons, and costs involved to let you know exactly what it entails.
